My family had a wonderful Christmas, we gathered at my daughter's home.  We had so much wonderful food that every body made and brought for dinner.  It was wonderful seeing all the family together, and my three granddaughter's, who are so busy with their own lives. Jenny is a high school English teacher, Michelle has a PH.d in Psychology and is working at a hospital, and Jamie works for a company that makes sporting equipment, and their ski boards are going to be at Soshi for the Winter Olympics.  I embroidered silk ribbon on berets and they loved them, which made me happy.  The weather was about 85 deg's so we spent a lot of time outdoors where the great granddaughter's were riding their new toys.  Took a lot of pictures and had a great Christmas.  I hope everyone was as lucky as I was to enjoy their day with family.

I am wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, and all the best for a Blessed New Year 2014.  It is Christmas Eve, and I finished the last gift yesterday, for my neighbor Paulette who is an 82 year old on roller skates.  She puts me to shame she is always moving and doing something fantastic.  We have become very close since I moved in next door, and I love sharing all kinds of projects with her.  I made her a scissor fob, with silk ribbon.  For my oldest 3 Granddaughters I embroidered a wool beret with silk ribbon and each one done in different colors, they really came out nice.  My son will be here to stay over Christmas and will be visiting with his Dad's family this evening and tomorrow we get together at my Daughter's home for our Christmas celebration.  Everyone is cooking different dishes and cannot wait to sit down for dinner.   Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Today is the Arts & Crafts group Christmas party and during the party we will be filling Santa's candy bags that will be handed out on Christmas morning by Mr & Mrs Santa to the residents of our Senior Citizen Mobile Home Park. Love the gathering and all the women are just wonderful and happy to help fill bags.  Then we will have the goodies every one is bringing.  I also have an update on all the pain I had for 4 months. I was diagnosed with Poly Myalgia Rheumatica which is an inflammation of the long muscles of the body and that is why there was so much pain.  Have been put on a huge dose of Prednisone and Methotrexate a chemo drug to help the inflammation.  Feel so much better and the pain is very minimal. So happy that the cause of all my pain has been discovered.

I have been driving a Tahoe since 2007 and it was way to big, so I sold it two weeks ago, and purchased a Hyundai Elantra with the money from selling my car.  It is small and I have to get used to driving a smaller car.  I am going to have to have a total knee replacement, my knee is gone and went to see the Ortho and he says I cannot wait any longer. I have been in so much pain I am walking with two canes.  I have only been able to knit because that does not need a lot of getting up and down.  And then when I had surgery in July, I injured both rotator cuffs from lifting myself enough to then stand and not use my stomach muscles. Boy I have been a mess, I cannot roll over in bed, nor lift either arm to turn off the light, and then I do not sleep all night because of the pain in my knee.  Okay enough of the pity party, no more on either subject.  I have several projects in mind to start working on and just need to finish gathering my threads. So hopefully I will have some new pictures soon.

This is a Hussif I made in a class with Gloria Mc Kinnon from Australia on one of her visits to the US. This class was where I learned to make a husif and I have made 7 of them. It is so much fun to chose the fabric and all the colors of thread to make them.  Embellishing the outside is almost as much fun as the inside.

This is the inside of the husif, where there is a spot for scissors, a tape measure, a thimble pocket a pincushion and a needle keeper.  This was all made in brazilian embroidery and  done by hand except for the quilting on the bottom piece.

This is my scrumbles bag, I knitted and crocheted pieces of every kind of figure and yarn and then sewed them onto a purse form. I love the colors and it was a lot of fun to make and surprisingly it did not take a long time to do it.

This painting of a ballerina was painted in oils about 20 years ago. I found a greeting card with this beautiful ballerina and so I painted her,  I love ballerina's and the graceful way they dance is beautiful. I never signed her could never figure out what  name I wanted to use.

This second ballerina was also done in oils but much more colorful than the one above, this one also was done about 20 years ago, this one also remains unsigned.

These are my Yorkies:  Max 9 yrs on left, Miki 8 yrs on right and Harlee 4 yrs old.  They make me laugh and give me lots of loving.
This is a silk picture that I embellished with silk ribbon and beads. I put it on the top of a sewing box that I made from a beautiful mahogony box used to keep silverware.
This is a needle case that I made and it has different kinds of needles.  Made with silk ribbon dyed lace and for the cover it is black velvet.
This morning at 4:00 am I was woken up with a huge jolt and realized we had an earthquake and it was centered in La Verne the town i live in.  Then about 4:20 am we had a second one 3.8 centered in Pomona a neighboring town. So at 4:30 am I am watching news to learn more.  Rude awakening, my Yorkies slept through it all.  Have had a little time to add gadgets to my blog and will keep posting new photos. This is a paper doll made with satin ribbon and embellished with ribbon and silk flowers.  Made this in a class with Arlene Baker who has a wonderful beading book with a lot of great projects.

I love my new blog that Karen Valentine created for me.  I have been wanting a new site for a long time, and this one is beautiful. I will be posting my pictures to the new site soon.
This is my Bee Eater that I made in a class with Trish Burr. This was my first needlepainting that I did and I really liked doing it.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new blog! I hope you will return once I have had a chance to fill it with all the things I love! See you soon!
